1200 Pelham Dr. House Fire

December 2, 2018 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire with smoke and flames visible from the exterior.  The initial engine arrived within one minute and noted flames through the roof.  There was extensive damage to the roof members and kitchen area in the rear of the house.  There were no occupants or pets inside, and there were no injuries to firefighters.  The fire was under control within 17 minutes, and damage was limited to the immediate area of the fire.  FWFD received assistance from FWPD, NIPSCO, AEP, TRAA, and Neighborhood Code.

Travel Inn Motel Fire

November 30, 2018 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a building fire at the Travel Inn in the 2700 block of West Coliseum Blvd. When crews arrived they found one room fully involved. The occupant had escaped before crews arrived and had sustained burns to his back. TRAA medics were on scene and transported the patient to the hospital. Another guest in a different motel room was also transported due to smoke inhalation no condition was given on that guest. One Firefighter was injured and transported to the hospital. The building sustained damage to several rooms and the Allen County Building Department as well as Neighborhood Code is on scene assessing the structure. The Fort Wayne Fire Department was assisted by Fort Wayne Police Department, TRAA, Fort Wayne Neighborhood Code and the Allen County Building Department. This fire is under investigation.

1900 Maumee Ave. Building Fire

November 27, 2018 - FWFD crews were dispatched for a building with flames and smoke showing.  First units arrived on scene reporting heavy fire throughout, front to back, in over half the building.  Initial crews made entry with hose lines attempting to extinguish the fire.  Crews at the rear reported the metal roof sagging and all units were evacuated.  Heavy flames were knocked down from the exterior and then crews re-entered to extinguish multiple interior rooms and warehouse materials that were still on fire.  FWFD was assisted on scene by FWPD, TRAA, Neighborhood Code Enforcement, Allen County Building Department, NIPSCO, and AEP.

Woodview Manor Apartment Fire

November 22, 2018 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department arrived on the scene to find heavy fire coming from the second floor and extending onto the roof. There was no one in the fire apartment and the rest of the building was evacuated with no injuries. It took crews 17 minutes to bring the fire under control but several hours to complete the overhaul of the structure. The fire is under investigation.

Unity Worship Center Fire

November 12,2018 -  FWFD units were sent to a building fire at 4101 Holton Avenue.  Upon arrival units found fire showing from multiple locations in the structure.  Crews made entry with hose lines to start primary searches and to attack the fire. Extra crews were called to the scene due to the heavy fire involvement.  Due to fire conditions on multiple floors of the structure and floors and ceilings beginning to collapse, crews were withdrawn and water was applied from the exterior of the building to knock down the heavy fire inside.  Once fire was knocked down to a reasonable and safer level, crews made entry again with hose lines and extinguished the blaze.  FWFD units were assisted on scene by TRAA, FWPD units, NIPSCO, AEP, and Neighborhood Code Enforcement.  Cause of the fire is still under investigation by FWFD Investigators.
