4700 Ottawa Dr. House Fire

July 8, 2018 - FWFD was called to a possible house fire. The first units on the scene found a fire on the exterior of the structure that also involved a gas line. They were able to get the fire extinguished and the gas shut off. There were no injuries and the FD was assisted by FWPD, TRAA, NCE, AEP, and NIPSCO.

4600 South Park St. House Fire

July 5, 2018 - Fort Wayne Fire Dept. responded to reported house fire in the 4600 block of South Park St.  First Engine arrived on the scene in just two minutes finding heavy fire showing from the front of the house.  First arriving crew made entry thought the front door finding fire in the front room of the home.  Firefighters made quick work of the fire bringing it under control in just over ten minutes.  Firefighters also reported that the house was vacant. The house had heavy fire and smoke damage with moderate water damage.  No injuries were reported and this fire remains under investigation.  Assisting at the fire were Nipsco, AEP, NEC, TRAA, FWPD

1500 Wells St. House Fire

July 1, 2018 - Fire department units responded to the report of a structure fire in the 1500 block of Wells Street. The first unit arrived and had smoke coming from the back of a duplex. Upon further investigation it was found that a fire was burning in a back wall. Crews opened up the exterior of the house and applied water keeping the fire from spreading to the second floor and attic of the home. The fire was under control in 17 minutes and no injuries were reported. The fire department was assisted by TRAA, the Fort Wayne Police Department, Nipsco, AEP and neighborhood code.

7300 Kensington Dr. House Fire

June 12, 2018 - FWFD was dispatched to a house fire in the 7300 block of Kensington Dr., first crews on the scene found the occupants outside of the home. Crews started an interior attack on the fire and searching for a cat that was still inside the home. After several minutes the cat was found and retuned to the owner. It took crews 33 minutes to bring the fire under control. Red Cross was called to the scene to assists the occupants. The fire is under investigation.

Tamera Gardens Apartment Fire

June 8, 2018 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to Tamera Gardens Apartments crews arrived and found the entire attic area on fire with heavy smoke showing. Crews ensured that the building was empty and attempted to extinguish the fire but were unable due high heat and heavy smoke. One Firefighter was injured at the scene and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.  This fire is under investigation. The Red Cross was on the scene to assist those families that were displaced due to the fire.
