Villa Capri Apartment Fire

June 5, 2018 - The Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to an apartment fire in Villa Capri Apartments. When the first unit arrived the occupants were outside the apartment. The personnel found a fire on the second floor of the apartment building with heavy smoke and heat throughout the apartment. It took Firefighter 40 minutes to bring the under control. Two Firefighters were injured while extinguishing this fire, one firefighter was transported to the hospital and the other was treated and released. This fire is under investigation.

2500 S. Hanna St. House Fire

May 30, 2018 - The FWFD was called to report of a residential structure fire in the 2500 block of S. Hanna St. Fire crews arrived and found smoke showing from the roof of the structure. Firefighters made an aggressive attack on the second floor fire and was able to bring the fire under control in a matter of minutes. There were no injuries reported and the fire department was assisted by FWPD,TRAA,NCE,NIPSCO and AEP.

2100 Ardmore Ave. Apartment Fire

May 30, 2018 - FWFD units responded to the 2100 block of Ardmore Avenue on a reported apartment fire. First arriving crews found light smoke showing from the second floor apartment. First arriving crews advanced a hose line for fire extinguishment. Subsequent crews began evacuating the structure and searching for trapped occupants. All occupants self evacuated and there were no injuries reported. The fire was placed under control in 16 minutes. FWFD was assisted by TRAA, FWPD and NCE.

1000 Scott Ave. House Fire

May 26, 2018 - FWFD units responded to the 1000 block of Scott Ave on a reported house fire.  Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire involvement on the front of a 2 story home with flames extending to the structures on either side.  Immediate action was taken to minimize the spread of the fire and limit the damage to the house that was initially involved in the fire.  Crews worked quickly to extinguish the blaze and also make sure that everyone was out of the house.  Damage to the home was extensive while the homes on either side only sustained minor damage.  The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes.  No injuries were reported. Broadway was closed for a short amount of time. The cause is currently under investigation.  FWFD was assisted by FWPD, NCE, AEP and TRAA.

Urban Assault Motorsports Fire

May 8, 2018 - The FWFD was called to Urban Assault Motorsport in the 900 block of Sherman St. and found flames from the side of the building.  The fire was contained to a small area inside the building and extinguished quickly and placed under control in about 12 mins.  No injuries.  The FWFD was assisted by FWPD, TRAA, NCE.
