It is the mission of the Fort Wayne Fire Department to prevent the loss of life and to control or reduce the loss of property by applying all of our professional knowledge and resources. We will accomplish this mission through fire suppression, rescue, code enforcement, public education, fire investigation, and professional development training. Fort Wayne firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 4415 Imperial Ct on September 7th at 1:41 a.m. Upon arrival fire crews found smoke coming from the garage area of the home. The fire was quickly extinguished and was isolated to the garage area only. Three residents were at home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2607 Fox on September 6th at 7:34 p.m. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy fire on the exterior, south side of the house on both floors along with the north side of the house next door to the south. Crews advanced hose lines into the structure for search and fire attack. All occupants were out of the structure prior to FWFD arrival. Fire was extinguished after heavy damage was sustained to the exterior of both houses. No injuries were sustained. The fire was caused when a motorcycle malfunctioned while being started in between the houses.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire located at 6115 Hunter Wood Drive on September 4th at 12:45 p.m. Upon arrival there was fire coming from the roof of the garage. Firefighters attacked the fire from the interior as well as set up ladders on the outside of the structure. A search was conducted for occupants and a pet. All three occupants and the family pet evacuated the home without injury. There was heavy fire and smoke damage throughout the structure along with moderate water damage. The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 4333 Avondale Drive on September 4th at 12:45 a.m. On the first unit's arrival, heavy smoke was found coming from the one story residential structure. Firefighters used an aggressive interior attack to bring the blaze under control in sixteen minutes. Six people were alerted to the fire by a smoke detector and were out of the structure on the fire departments arrival. There was heavy fire damage to the living room and kitchen area of the house. No firefighters were injured fighting the blaze and the cause is under investigation at this time.

Smoke Alarms

 

The Fort Wayne Fire Department (FWFD) is offering a new Smoke Alarm Distribution Program that is a need-based program using Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Income Guidelines to provide smoke alarms in homes for those that would not be able to afford them.
