As we have said from day one, the hiring process for a job in public safety/fire service is a long one.  Today, the process coupled with the fragile economy makes it even more challenging.  While the hiring process is currently a deleted line item, Fire Chief Amy Biggs has not given up all hope, nor has her efforts waivered to still pursue an Academy Class in 2013.  Chief Biggs continues to meet with city council members and other city staff to share and identify potential/alternative revenue streams that may make a 2013 class possible.  Chief Biggs is 100% committed to hosting a class.  A new class not only improves the staffing level numbers, but supports the primary objective she has as Fire Chief - a pledge to the health, safety, well-being and security of all current and future FWFD members.
